When we review Linazasoro’s work, we see how knowledge is introduced and we see with pleasure the way in which what was thought and created in previous historical moments is reinvented and brought to a new life. His work, which is fed by deep historical roots, also opens up to the air that corresponds to our days.
In the architecture of Linazasoro, great value is given to the fact of building, to the hand that builds, to the profession, to traditional knowledge, but also consciously and very carefully accepts materials and ways of doing of our days. This is the case, for example, in the church of San Lorenzo in Valdemaqueda (Madrid) or in the remodeling of the Escuelas Pías (Madrid).
The first is a small project with a timeless essence full of subtleties and refinements that can bring to mind the extraordinary figure of Sigurd Lewerentz and the second is a project of great conceptual and physical richness in which many linguistic levels come into play and are vivified in their coexistence. Such works provide the visitor with a uniquely intense experience.
The contemplation of some of his works urges us to think about the permanent vitality of the past as it is reinterpreted and how, due to the skill of the trade, the environments created end up being distinctive of our time.
